Safety Pressure Switch (Electric) - Components for Screw Compressor Systems
Safety Pressure Switch
Operation:
In addition to the final pressure switch, we recommend to install a safety pressure switch in screw compressor systems.
The safety pressure switch operates in the event of:
- wrong rotating direction
- start-up of a unit not relieved from pressure
It should be installed in the intake section of the screw compressor.
Function:
The safety pressure switch interrupts the elctric circuit as soon as overpressure builds up in the intake section. In normal operating conditions, there is a slight underpressure in this area, and when idling, a vacuum. When the unit stops, however, overpressure immediately builds up as a result of the backflow to the intake control. The pressure switch interrupts the electric circuit until the unit is again relieved from pressure. This prevents overloading the motor by starting-up the screw compressor unit against pressure.
Also, if the screw compressor rotates in the wrong direction during initial start-up, the safety pressure switch will cause the unit to stop due to the pressure increase in the intake socket of the screw compressor.
