Compressor Dictionary - F

Filling Valve

The filling valve, which is connected directly to the breathing air cylinder by means of a flexible hose, has two key features:

  • During the filling cycle, the valve directly connects cylinder and compressor.
  • After the filling cycle, the valve shuts the connection between compressor and cylinder and depressurises the filling valve. Another empty bottle can be connected instantly.

The filling valve's seal is conical. When the hand lever is swung into a closed position, the pressure line to the compressor is blocked. In parallel, a ventilation slot is opened. High pressure air, trapped between the compressor valve and the connection valve, escapes. The filling hose stays under pressure. Designed for multi-cylinder filling panels, the valve prevents air from being discharged through a hose that is not connected. A jet of air flowing from a connection hose at 200 bar may cause severe injuries.

Always keep the clamp in a safe place!
