Installation Indoors and Outdoors
Installation indoors
Please stick to the following rules when installing a compressor indoors, especially if you operate a commercial compressor (see » regulations).
- As an accident prevention measure, access to the compressor room must be restricted.
- The exit should be free of obstructions; the emergency power-off switch must be easy to get to.
- There is strictly no smoking in a compressor room!
- For indoor installation, the compressor is generally powered by an electric motor.
- Nevertheless, the guidelines that apply for gasoline-driven compressors ought to be observed.
- The minimum distance between wall and compressor must be:
- 0,5 m for the air intake,
- 0,75 m for the cooling air outlet.
- The recommendations concerning room ventilation, windows, etc. are listed in the compressor's operating manual.
Installation outdoors
- Please install your compressor in a safe place! Unfortunately this principal rule is often forgotten. Lack of awareness has entailed numerous accidents and legal proceedings.
- The ground surface must be level, dust-free and sufficiently hard in order to handle the compressor's weight and vibrations.
- The intake hose, which may have a maximum length of 3 metres, must have an adequately large cross-section. It should be located in an elevated, dry place and upwind from the compressor.
- Ideally, the direction of the cooling air stream and the prevailing winds are aligned.
- Do check the wind direction from time to time!
- Above all, the aspiration of exhaust fumes from the compressor engine must be avoided.
- Equally, we recommend that you steer clear of oxygen depleted or polluted environments, the vicinity of frequented roads, for example.
